AVFTI is all about sharing, that’s why we’re here after all: so victims of sex crimes have a safe, anonymous place to share their story and get encouragement from each other and the community. We believe it’s a powerful and effective way to start healing, to just speak up and share. It’s no secret that music is a popular avenue of not only expressiong yourself, but understanding the viewpoints and feelings of other people. Music is one way we can start conversations and Cincinnati has a thriving music scene that covers a myriad of genres, so naturally Voices was born. We set out to partner with local musicians to spread the power of communication in every form, and in the process create a compilation CD that would let musicians share their stories, experiences and opinions in the hopes of encouraging openness, discussion, passion and healing. Leading up to the official release of Voices I want to share one new track with you every day. We had a lot of talented people trying to wrap their heads around a complicated topic and I think the result is a CD full of hope, pain, love, tragedy – all the things that make art interesting. But most of all I think the Voices compilation is full of one important promise to each and every victim of rape or sexual abuse, their family, friends and loved ones: You Are Not Alone. There are so many people in the world that stand behind you, who want to support you and who want to help in any way they can.

Two of those people call themselves Daniel In Stereo, Dan Crowe & Daniel Chimusoro. The indie pop/blues duo is comparable to Two Door Cinema Club, twenty one pilots, Public, Passion Pit, The Never Setting Suns, Brand New, Manchester Orchestra and O’brother. Daniel In Stereo wrote Wandering Eyes for the Voices compilation, a dreamy, escapist tune that hits you first with it’s driving percussion. Ghostly vocals grow from doubt to decision, as the song becomes a mantra for moving on. You can listen to the song and read the lyrics below. Let us know what you think in the comments, too! And if you like what you hear, or just want to help support A Voice For The Innocent we have the Voices compilation for sale for only $8 for a limited time only! Pre-order and save, because after the official release the prices goes up to $10! If you don’t have the cash to spare right now, that’s cool, you can still help by sharing these songs with your friends and family, and by liking us on Facebook.

Wandering Eyes lyrics by Daniel In Stereo

It seems to me
That I have been deceived
By the thoughts deep in my heart
It seems to me
That my eyes keep wanting more
Of this wretched, wretched poison

Oh wondering eyes
Have you found what you what you’re looking for?
Oh wondering eyes

So I will run away from all these ghosts
And drink this poison no more
So I can run away from all these ghosts
That haunt me
So I will run away from all these thoughts
And drink this poison no more
So I can run away from all these ghosts
That haunt me

Oh wondering eyes
Have you found what you what you’re looking for?
Oh wondering eyes
