As promised, I wanted to share an update on my new therapist.

Luckily, it’s a she since I’m terrified of men. It felt good to get everything off my chest, but unfortunately, I cannot expect results just after one session. I do have a lot of inner healing to do, and a lot of trauma I need to work around, which she explained. I’ll just have to try to push myself so the flashbacks and nightmares don’t get the best of me, you know?
I’m avoiding meds at all costs due to the nasty side effects, and have been looking into CBD Oil, since I already use essential oils and auromatherapy daily.
As for the therapy, I’m grateful she’ll help me learn healthy coping mechanisms for my PTSD.

    Hi Jamie

It is so good to hear that you have found a therapist that you can feel comfortable around. It is important to have reliable support systems and going to a good therapist is a great one. I am by no means an expert on CBD oil but if it works for you, you should definitely use it.

Hey Jamie Marie, this is good news! Therapy can be a long process, but taking that first step, I think, is the hardest. I have no doubt you’ll work together in your healing process and find ways to cope with your PTSD. You got this, love.

It sounds like a good start. When I contacted the facility that harbors therapists, the one I was referred to didn’t fit my schedule, so I asked if there were others. I told them to strike the guys off the list. They were happy to do so. I think gender is a valid deciding factor when we are looking for a therapist. And other survivors might even work with guys and do great with them. It’s still valid for others of us to want to work with a woman. You are not alone.

Good luck, and keep us updated. I think it is helpful to hear other’s experiences or to run ours by others, so we get an idea of what is normal/what to expect.

I’m so happy you like your new therapist. Hopefully you will see improvement soon. I’m so proud that you are getting the help that you want because it will all be worth it in the end. It’s okay that you’re still scared of men. It’s something that you can work on with your therapist. When you’ve been through something that traumatic you have to take your time.
Thank you for updating us and if you need anything else we are here for you.

    Hi Jamie Marie!
This is great news. I know it will be a lot of work but it will be worth it in the end. I love essential oils. They are one of my favorite go to when I have a bad day and need to relax. I also have heard good things about cbd oils as well. Hopefully that will help. I agree with you having a female therapist helps especially when you are trying to work through trauma involving men. I won’t see a male either because I too don’t trust them. But I am getting there thanks to my sessions. I can understand not wanting to take medication and I hope you don’t need to but just know there is nothing wrong in a little assistance especially when trying to work through the ptsd. I hope the ptsd treatment goes well and starts helping. It will be hard at first but it will get better. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you have found a good and trust worthy therapist who will help you on this journey.
