Hi, I wanted to share with you guys some songs I’ve written about my experiences with sexual assault. For me it can be comforting to find music that I identify with. I’ve noticed there isn’t a ton of music about trauma and the after math of it all, so my hopes with this channel is to create a safe place for people to know they are not alone and can find comfort.

The first song I want to share a link to is an encouragement to everyone who’s ever been called a liar when they’ve come out about the abuse.

They say “You’ve made it all up and that you need to be quiet. Now’s not the time to speak your mind. Don’t you realize you could ruin his life?”

Yet the truth remains between him and you. They weren’t there, so they can’t say what he did or didn’t do. When they tell you that you are lying think to yourself or say, “Since you weren’t there you can’t know and if you claim to— the only liar here is you.”

Not A Liar:

The next song is about my experience of not disclosing about the abuse for a long time because there was no one to tell.

What’s Been Done in The Dark:

The last song is personal about a specific time I was assaulted and all the emotions I felt.

Thank you for allowing our community to learn about your story through the music you have created.

I agree that there isn’t too much music that discusses the aftermath of sexual violence; I’m thinking that the people who come across your music will certainly find comfort. I wish that you would have had someone to confide in about the abuse sooner.

Please feel free to come back at any time.

    Hello Peace Hope Music,

Thank you so much for coming by to share this with us. I’m grateful you found out about our organization. I think what you’re doing with music is amazing! You’re right, there isn’t much much music about trauma directly. I really like what you’re doing here and it also seems like this is therapeutic. I hope others can be inspired by what you did and do the same if they wish.

Putting yourself out there and creating this music is very brave of you. I’m thankful you did this! You can also come by anytime to share more music or stories with us.
