A “positive” update

110 32

I went through my last few posts and they are all pretty negative so I figured that I’d update you guys and reassure those who care that I am doing better emotionally.  Still struggling with finances and occasional tension with family but at the moment I am okay.  I am worried though because the next few days it’s supposed to rain A LOT which can cause flooding.  And the next few days I have to go to work during times where it says on my weather app when it’s supposed to rain the hardest.  Hopefully I will get to work and back home safely.  Besides work, nothing much is really happening in my life.  I am a big fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender and I have never seen the sequel series The Legend of Korra.  It’s coming to Netflix tomorrow so after work I’m going to finally start watching it and hopefully like it.  Hope you all are doing well and staying safe!

    Dear colton95,
Thanks for coming back to give us an update. It is great to hear that things are better for you. Sometimes normality can seem boring because our bodies are conditioned for the rush of chemicals our brains release during upset/conflict/stress; however, as we heal and learn, we come to see the good in it. Keep healing!
    Sending love and strength,

    Hi colton95,
I’m so glad you’re doing better emotionally, and it’s great that you have the sequel series to watch! I think that can be a good way to unwind after work. I hope you stay safe while it rains, and I can understand why you’re worried. I also hope that the family tension and your financial challenges are resolved. As for being ‘negative,’ we all have frustrating days, and it’s okay to not be okay. It’s also okay to talk about what we’re going through – negative, positive, and everything in between.
Thank you for updating us, and I hope you’re doing well! We’re here for you whenever you need us.

    Hi Colton!
It’s always great to see up dates! I would say about work & rain, take it day by day. Try not to stress yourself out as the weather coud change. I’m glad that you’re in a better place emotionally! Each day brings a new beginning. Keep striving for ” better days”. Life is filled with enough stressors already. Try not to allow anything to come in your way emotionally. Stand strong & I believe you’ll make it!

I will be sending good wishes to you about your commute and staying safe during the rain. I LOVE Avatar: the Last Airbender. Such a good show. So funny but also so touching. I hope that you didn’t get as much rain as you were anticipating and that you were safe getting to and from work. Hi Colton,

I’m glad to hear that you’re staying strong as you continue to navigate the challenges you face. Be safe driving to work! I’m pretty excited about Korra coming to Netflix too. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it and that’ll give you a way to relax and recharge too!

    Hi Colton,

I think it’s important that you take time for yourself. I don’t think people truly know the importance of self-care and self-care activities. It sounds like you are on the right track with wanting to watch The Legend of Korra. I think that you should take this time to just enjoy the show and to try and not reflect too much on family tensions. You are your number one priority, so it’s important that you take the time to engage in stress-free activities. I wish you all of the best.

I’m glad to hear that you’re doing better! I hope that you’ll be able to safely come back from work. As an ATLA fan myself, I can’t wait for Korra to come out on Netflix as well. I’ve heard good things about the show and hopefully you’ll enjoy it!

    Hi colton95,

I am so glad to hear that things have been going better for you emotionally. I hope that getting on track in that regard will help other areas fall into place for you as well. It’s also good to hear that you have something to look forward to with the sequel series to the Last Airbender. It’s important to set time aside and relax, especially at the end of the week. I’m sorry to hear about the rain in the forecast – summer storms can really be intense sometimes and the flooding is never a welcome result. Rain can also be more scary to commute in than snow from my experience. People don’t seem to take it as seriously and aren’t as cautious. Take care of yourself and enjoy your well deserved break tomorrow night!

    Thanks for the update Colton95!

I always look forward to updates to see how everyone is holding up. I am happy that you are doing better emotionally. I completely agree, finances are stressful but i’ll take that stress over what could be worse. I really hope you stay safe out there! Drive slow and watch out for others. I never got into Avatar but I have heard SOOO many good things about it. Update me on how the sequel goes and maybe I will give it a shot too! Take care 🙂

    Hey colton95!

I’m glad to hear that things are okay on your end. It’s good to also have those things like tv shows to look forward to, regardless of how things are going overall. I’m also a big A:TLA fan, and I gotta say that I think you’ll like Korra. It’s definitely different, so don’t expect it to be the same vibe as the original, but I think you’ll still enjoy it 🙂 Hope you’re also staying safe!

Nice to hear from you again, Colton! Glad to know you’re in a better headspace. Finances, work, and family can be major stressors in life. It’s relatable and understandable to be upset and worried over things that literally have the biggest impact on you and the people around you. When you are feeling down, definitely give yourself a “time out,” so to speak. Read a book, eat some comfort food, or tune into your favorite show. (I was obsessed with Avatar, too. 😉) Your self-care is important. You seem like you know your priorities and are aware of your needs, which is great. Sometimes, the best therapy we can get is to just relax and unwind after a long, busy, or stressful day.

The weather would concern me, too. My advice is to plan ahead. Make a checklist for yourself. You can’t control what the weather is like, but you can control how you choose to respond. Check your weather app daily, bring key items along with you (ie umbrella and rain boots), use the Waze app on your way to work. (Waze gives you the best route possible while also letting you know if there is debris blocking your path, a cop car up ahead, oncoming traffic, etc.) Planning may sound a little too excessive, but, depending on how worried you are, how heavy the storm will be, and the amount of distance between your home and place of work, you might want to.

Thank you for updating us. We appreciate your posts. Whether you’re having a great week or a bad week, we just want to hear from you. You’re an important part of this community, and we’re blessed to have you here. Stay safe, and stay healthy. ☮️

    Hey there, colton95-

Thank you so much for your update! It is sometimes difficult to see the positive through the negative, but you were strong to change your perspective for this post. Rain is not great when you are trying to get somewhere (especially work!). Try to maintain that positive mindset- rain can be refreshing and reinvigorating. See if you can find a cute umbrella, then look up and see the ducks or flowers as you’re walking into your workplace, or pop in your favorite music! Though most days it seems we can’t change much in our lives, we can have some influence on the little things. You are brave to face the unknown every day and courageous to still recognize some goodness in your life.

I look forward to hearing about your experience in the rain and excited to know you’ll be enjoying a little Avatar on Netflix tomorrow. Be safe, enjoy, and keep fighting the good fight!

    Take care,
    Adrian

    Hi colton95,
Thank you for updating us. I’m sorry that u have to go to work in the rain. Just remember to drive slow and take ur time. Hopefully it won’t be that bad. I’m glad things are going well for you. Things will get better when it comes to family tension and money. I know being socially distant with family can sometimes be hard. Just try to if you can distance yourself from them when you can so you don’t have to get stressed by them. Thanks again for updating us! We are always here for you!
