A person is sexually assaulted every 92 seconds, and on average, there are 321,500 victims (age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault each year in the United States. (source: RAINN) Clearly this is a problem across our culture, but so many of those who are not directly affected remain silent. But if we are going to truly change the landscape around sexual violence, we need people to learn about rape culture how to support survivors even if they haven’t had a direct experience – especially if they haven’t had a direct experience.
