The next song to be featured from the Voices compilation comes from the Cincinnati based band – I am the Messenger. Forming in 2008, I am the Messenger played shows with the likes of For Today, Corpus Christi, White Collar Sideshow and many others. They played events like Cornerstone and Ichthus and toured the region. After much consideration and to the chagrin of many Cincinnati metal fans, I am the Messenger broke up in late 2011. Even so, we’re bringing the song “Operation: Oh Yeah?” from their album entitled “The War Between” out of retirement, because of it’s message.

20676_305719617545_5198499_nThe lyrics of the song point to a tainted childhood and the ongoing struggle to deal with the repercussions of that fact. Unfortunately, that theme is something that too many people know all too well. If you struggle from similar issues, this site is filled with resources that may be of some help to you. You can always discuss your feelings on our forums anonymously if it’s something you feel like you’re ready for. Most of all, we want you to know that you aren’t alone and that there are people that legitimately care about your well being. So, never forget that.

You know, that’s actually the primary reason that we partnered with bands to make the Voices compilation. A big part of our mission is to reach out to victims of rape and sexual abuse, to let them know that we are all in this together. What better way to do that than through music? Let us know what you think about the song below!

Operation: Oh Yeah? lyrics by I am the Messenger

My hands made you this pretty necklace
It’s sewn with beads and memories
Of the stockholm syndrome we’ve attached to
My mind’s passed through murderous sequences
Clock’s stalled on the darkest of hours
I’ve got my arm slit from the recent events
I’ve got to let this go before it’s my demise

I fell in love with the middle of nowhere
But I wasn’t alone
No, there were fires where frail hearts conspired
My feet were worn thin from the walks with our hands locked

My blood is boiling in my veins but I can’t feel a pulse
Instead it’s rusting out my insides
I’m compulsively repulsed
My head is fastened to my palms

My youth was devoured by the teeth of a coward
My youth was devoured by the teeth of a coward

Help me, God
I’m falling apart
Help me, God
Help me, God
Swing with me
This doesn’t change a thing
Oh help me, God
Swing with me
This doesn’t change a thing
Oh help me, God
Help me, God
Help me, God
