I leave for Vans Warped Tour in 3 days. I am equal parts excited, anxious, and excited. And anxious. These past few months have been a whirlwind of preparation, fundraising, packing, and making sure that we are ready to embark on our biggest project to date. Checklists are nearly all crossed out, packages are en route to Dallas, and I’ve started packing my bags. With all the clamor and commotion surrounding our arrangements, we wanted to make sure to give credit and thanks where it belongs.
We started working with Warped Tour last year, when we attended a handful of dates sporadically throughout the tour. We went out on a whim and suggested to Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman that we write a class for the bands on the tour, teaching them about the issues of sexual violence and helping them become part of the solution. Kevin embraced the idea and worked with us throughout the following fall and winter seasons to make sure we were all on the same page. He agreed to let us attend the tour this year and reach out to the 750,000 people that attend the tour annually. He made sure we were able to come on the whole tour by donating bus spots and catering packages. And he even made sure we were able to pay a living wage to the people we are sending.
We have a million people to be grateful for…our volunteers, our storytellers, our donors, and so many people that have supported us over the past four years. But for this venture, and for our ability to step up to this level, we want to make sure to give thanks to Kevin, Warped Tour, and the whole 4fini staff. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to reach the amount of people we want to reach this year. Thank you.
See in you 3 days!
